South Moldova autonomy marks anniversary of foundation

Chisinau, 12 December /MOLDPRES/ - More actions occasioned by the 20th anniversary of the foundation of the Gagauz-Yeri Autonomous Territorial Unit take in Comrat (autonomy's administrative centre) .

An international conference titled, "20 years of UTA Gagauz-Yeri: past, present, future. Role and place of autonomy in Moldova," is scheduled for today. Attending the forum are politicians, representatives of diplomatic missions accredited in Moldova and other international bodies. 

On this occasion, the former presidents of Moldova, Petru Lucinschi and Vladimir Voronin, Parliament Speaker-in-office Igor Corman, MPs, Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Pirkka Tapiola came to Comrat. Ambassadors of Turkey and Russia to Moldova, Mehmet Selim Kartal and Farit Mukhametshin, respectively, representatives of the Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency, etc. came to Comrat as well, according to the gateway Gagauzinfo.md.  

At the same time, an exhibition and fair titled "Gagauzia -20 years," is staged at the Comrat-based culture palace. The action is organised by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry from the autonomy in concert with the Comrat town hall. 

Participating in the exhibition are economic agents from UTA Gagauz-Yeri, as well as from other Moldovan settlements. Tens of enterprises from the sectors of food industry, furniture, wine-making, pharmaceutics, etc. sell their goods at producers' prices.
