Moldovan premier meets Kazakh counterpart in Burabay

Chisinau, 28 May /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici met his Kazakh counterpart Karim Masimov in Burabay city, Kazakhstan, today, where the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Summit is held, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.

The officials agreed to resume the work of the joint intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation, which would boost and set the priority bilateral cooperation directions and would enhance the investments' competitiveness. This commission has not held meetings since 2011. 

Gaburici invited Karim Masimov to pay a visit to Moldova. Masimov accepted the invitation, specifying that such a visit might take place in the near future. Gaburici highlighted the high level of organisation of the summit of CIS heads of government, hosted by Kazakhstan this year, and thanked Karim Masimov for the warm reception at the event. 

The sides discussed issues on the bilateral agenda, including collaboration between Moldova and Kazakhstan at international level. The officials showed mutual interest in deepening ties in all cooperation areas, especially in the economic sector. 

Gaburici proposed to organise more visits by official delegations, as well as by representatives of the Moldovan and Kazakh business environments, in order to familiarize better with opportunities provided by the two states. „It is necessary to turn to account the development potential of projects in various fields and to increase mutual investments,” Chiril Gaburici said. 

For his part, Karim Masimov confirmed Kazakhstan’s interest for a constructive dialogue with Moldova. Masimov spoke out for enhancing the activity of the aforementioned commission and stressed that the next meeting might be organised on occasion of his visit to Moldova.  

The officials also approached the opportunities provided by the Giurgiulesti port in order to transport goods from Kazakhstan to European states, as well as the possibility to expand exports of Moldovan agro-food products to the Kazakh market. The sides also tackled the cooperation in the information technology area and energy security. 

Chiril Gaburici is on a two-day visit to Kazakhstan, to attend the CIS Prime Ministers Summit.
