Moldova opens honorific consulate in Antalya

Chisinau, 1 September /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova has opened an Honorific Consulate in Antalya, Turkey. The inauguration ceremony took place on 28 August, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.

Attending the event were Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Moldovan Foreign and European Integration Ministry Secretary General Anatol Vangheli, Undersecretary of the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Ali Kemal Aydin, Moldovan Ambassador to Turkey Igor Bolboceanu, representatives of diplomatic missions, Turkish Foreign Ministry, the governor of the Antalya province, business and culture people.

The officials emphasised the importance of increasing the number of honorary consulates in Turkey, noting that the province of Antalya was visited by a considerable number of tourists from Moldova annually and that the region had a great potential for economic cooperation.

Consul Diyar Gültekin Ickale said the Honorary Consulate’s priority activities were providing the necessary assistance to Moldovan citizens, strengthening bilateral contacts at the local and central level, as well as the development of economic ties.

This is the third Honorary Consulate opened in Turkey, besides the ones in the Bursa region and Izmir-Manisa.

On the sidelines of the opening of the Honorary Consulate, Foreign Ministry Secretary General Anatol Vangheli met Antalya Governor Muammer Turker, General Mayor of the region Menderes Turel and Antalya Chamber of Agriculture Chairman Nazif Alp. The sides discussed issues related to strengthening bilateral cooperation.
