Romanian government provides financial assistance for restoring Moldovan kindergartens

Chisinau, 9 September /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Pavel Filip thanked the Romanian authorities for the support provided in repairing kindergartens from Moldova, as well as for assistance in other sectors of major importance, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.

This message was conveyed at an event reporting implementation of the programme on technical and financial assistance offered by the Romanian government for building and restoring the preschool institutions from Moldova.

The premier said that the financial assistance was very important for Moldova, offering the opportunity for thousands of children to get knowledge in modern conditions, and for other thousands of employees to work in better working conditions. At the same time, Filip highly appreciated the Romanian government’s decision to continue the project in 2016, additionally offering 3 million euros as a grant for repair of 85 kindergartens from Moldova.

“Often the relations between states are regarded by citizens as something abstract, this time, we have example of projects which have been materialized in very important sectors for society. The assistance proves us once again that Romania was and remains further the most consistent supporter of Moldova,” Filip said.

At the same time, Filip pointed out that modernization of education sector and providing the young generation the opportunity to develop the professional skills was a priority for the Moldovan government. “Children are our future, and the support for them must come presently and not in future. Let’s build together the future of our children,” he said.

For his part, Romanian Ambassador to Chisinau Daniel Ionita noted that his country had been permanently along with Moldova, offered support in education, as well as in other fields.

At the same time, the official said that the good results got within the programme convinced the government from Bucharest to continue funding.

“This programme does not mean just figures, but people. The amount of 23 million euros is not important, nor the fact that 832 preschool institutions have been restored. Education is important and that each second kindergarten from Moldova benefitted from this programme. Over 200,000 beneficiaries of the programme, children going to kindergartens at European standards, parents can be employed knowing that children are safe, employees and teachers going to work – all this is important,” Ionita said.

The programme on technical and financial assistance provided by the Romanian government for building and restoring the preschool institutions from Moldova was launched in 2014 and is implemented by the social investment fund. For two years, 23 million euros was earmarked for repairing and refurnishing 832 kindergartens from all Moldovan districts.

The money was used for modernizing the heating systems in kindergartens, changing windows and roofs of education buildings, purchasing new furniture and equipment, as well as for arranging playgrounds for children.
