Pump prices for fuel to increase by about three per cent in Moldova, against background of decrease in quotations at international exchanges

Chisinau, 10 January /MOLDPRES/ - The prices for the most demanded Premium-95 petrol will increase by 3.8 per cent and the ones for diesel  - by 2.9 per cent starting from 11 January. The National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) today established the ceiling selling price for the Premium-95 petrol at 17.99 lei per one litre and for diesel – at 15.61 lei for 11-24 January.     

It is for the fourth time in a row that the prices for petrol and diesel are rising significantly. On the previous period, the prices for the Premium-95 petrol grew by 0.39 lei for one litre and for diesel – by 0.26 lei.    

The new prices for petrol and diesel will enter into force at midnight, when operators will have no right to sell fuels by retail at prices higher than the ones set by ANRE. The prices posted today on ANRE’s webpage will be valid for 14 calendar days.  

ANRE has been applying the procedure of establishing the ceiling selling prices for fuels since last May, when a price of 16.21 lei for one litre of Premium-95 petrol and 13.83 lei per one litre of diesel were established.  

The quotation of the barrel of light sweet crude oil, due to be supplied in next February, dropped by 2.03 dollars at the New York Mercantile Exchange – Nymex, reaching the value of 51.96 dollars on 9 January at the closing. At the ICE Futures exchange, the quotation of the barrel of Brent oil, due to be supplied in next March, decreased by 2.16 dollars, reaching the value of 54.94 dollars at the closing.
