Moldovan parliamentary commissions hold 323 meetings, present 651 reports in 2016

Chisinau, 19 January /MOLDPRES/ - The nine standing commissions of the Moldovan parliament held 323 meetings in 2016. As many as 207 meetings of the parliamentary commissions took place in the spring session, and another 116 – in the autumn session, according to a statistic survey of the legislative process for 2016, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.   

The juridical commissions for rules and immunities held most meetings – 48; it is followed by the commission for national security, defence and public order – 39 meetings. The commission for economy, budget and finances, commission for agriculture and food industry and the commission for social protection, health and family held 37 meetings each. The MPs of the commission for public administration, regional development, environment and climate changes convened at 36 meetings. The lawmakers of the commission for foreign policy and European integration and the commission for culture, education, research, youth, sport and mass media held 32 meetings each. The commission for human rights and inter-ethnic relations carried out 25 meetings.  

At the meetings, the parliamentary commissions unveiled 651 reports and co-reports, as well as 2,212 notifications to draft legislative acts. For comparison, 460 reports and co-reports, as well as 1,953 notifications were discussed in 2015. The MPs of the juridical commission for rules and immunities presented most reports – 210, the commission for economy, budget and finances – 143, the commission for social protection, regional development, environment and climate change – 59, and the commission for national security, defence and public order – 56.
