Moldovan deputy foreign minister received by head of Georgian diplomacy

Chisinau, 25 February /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister Lilian Darii, on a visit to Tbilisi to hold a round of inter-ministerial consultations, has been received by Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.   

At the meeting, the two officials spoke out for the extension and deepening of the bilateral cooperation relations in the most diverse sectors, stressing that, in 2017, Moldova and Georgia would mark the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic ties. 

Deputy Minister Lilian Darii highlighted the quality of the political dialogue between the two countries, both the bilateral one and at the regional level. In this respect, the Moldovan official evoked the efficient interaction within international organizations, such the United Nations, Council of Europe, OSCE. In particular, Darii emphasized Georgia’s role as state holding the presidency of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development (GUAM) in 2017 in  promoting the processes of settlement of protracted conflicts in the GUAM area.   

For his part, Minister Mikheil Janelidze reiterated Georgia’s interest in further promotion of the ascendant political dialogue between the two countries and stressed the need to consolidate the regional cooperation of the states associated with the European Union: Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
