Moldovan PM meets ambassador of Poland at end of mandate

Chisinau, 14 June /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today received Ambassador of Poland to Moldova Artur Michalski, who is ending his mission in the country, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.   

The PM thanked the Polish diplomat for his personal contribution to strengthening the Moldovan-Polish relations and promoting the European desideratum of Moldova. More events were organized during the mandate of Artur Michalski, which helped deepen the political dialogue between the two countries, in the spirit of the European partnership.  

“We are grateful for the constant support provided by Poland to Moldova’s European integration, including in order to implement the provisions of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement. This year, we will mark the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations and I am sure that the latter will continue the ascendant trend,” Pavel Filip said.  

The prime minister thanked the Polish side for its firm stance on the Transnistrian conflict settlement, based on the observance of the principle of Moldova’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. At the same time, the PM showed optimism about the development of the commercial and economic ties. Filip highlighted the actions undertaken by the government to improve the business environment, among which the cutting of the number of permissive acts from 414 to 150 and of the control institutions from 59 to 13. “To stimulate the business environment means having a better financial capacity of the state,” Pavel Filip stressed.  

For his part, Ambassador Artur Michalski thanked the cabinet for openness and constructive way of tackling subjects on the bilateral agenda. In the context, the diplomat said that the work of Polish investors in Moldova was a good example also for other foreign investors to come to Moldova. Presently, the biggest Polish investor in Moldova is the company Polski Cukier, with investments worth more than 15 million dollars. At the same time, Poland ranks eighth among the main trade partners of Moldova.
