Around 2500 marks increased after examination of appeals filed with BAC in Moldova

Chisinau, 07 July /MOLDPRES/ – About 2500 marks were increased as a result of examining the students’ complaints following the basic session of the Baccalaureate exams, the National Agency for Curriculum and Evaluation announced today.

After the basic session of BAC exams, approximately 12,200 complaints were filed against the total number of 64,871 written and checked papers, which is 18.8 per cent, compared to 19.55 per cent in 2016.

According to the National Agency for Curriculum and Assessment, most of the complaints were submitted to Romanian language and literature – 2408, English – 2297, geography – 2007, history – 1799, and mathematics – 1272 appeals. The fewest complaints were submitted to the native language test: Ukrainian, Gagauz and Bulgarian.

However, following the complaints’ examination, the promotion rate for high school leavers increased by 01.84 per cent and represents 83.08 per cent, the promotion rate for technical school increased by 01.65 per cent and represents 48.43 per cent and the promotion rate for candidates of previous sessions increased by 01.08 per cent, resulting 19.74 per cent. The rate of promotion of the BAC exams for high school leavers increased by 05.18 per cent compared to 2016.

The number of candidates who passed BAC exams increased by 303 and is equal to 11,320. The number of students with an average mark equal to or higher than 8 is 1593, compared with 1434 in 2016, 300 candidates have a higher average score or equal to 9, compared to 209 in 2016, and three students have an average of 10, compared to one in 2016.

The additional session of BAC exams will be held from 17-24 July. The candidates will submit a written application to the Baccalaureate Centre in which they held the basic session as to participate in it on 06-07 July. The additional session can be attended by young people who accumulated insufficient marks in the basic session or absent for good reasons.
