Chisinau, 24 August /MOLDPRES/ – The Labour Code was supplemented with provisions to protect the rights of pregnant women and those who have recently given birth. The respective amendments will be published in the Official Journal of Moldova on 25 August 2017.

According to the document, women who have children up to three years of age, if they are unable to fulfill their employment obligations, will be transferred to another job, keeping the average salary from the previous place until the children reach the age of three.

The document also stipulates that the employer will be required, upon request, to set the day or week of part-time work for pregnant women, but also for employees who have children under the age of 10 or children with disabilities or employees who care for a sick member of the family.

If the work done by a pregnant woman is likely to pose a risk to her safety or health or may have repercussions on pregnancy or breastfeeding, the employer will take the necessary measures to exclude the influence of factors by a temporary change in working conditions of the above mentioned persons.

At the same time, according to the completed additions, the employer will inform the employees about the full-time and part-time vacancies for the unit within five working days from the date of their appearance. The information on vacancies will be made available to employees and their representatives through a public announcement placed on a general information desk at the headquarters of the unit as well as on the website.

The completions to the Labour Code will not involve additional spending from the state budget or from the private employers' account.
