Moldovan prime minister, president of Slovakia reconfirm bilateral strategic partnership

Chisinau, 20 September /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, met with President of Slovak Republic, Andrej Kiska, withn margins of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly in New York, today, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The officials discussed the bilateral partnership and the opportunities to deepen it. In this context, the Prime Minister thanked the Bratislava authorities for the financial and technical assistance provided to Moldova. Over the recent five years, through the Development Assistance Fund, Slovakia has allocated over €2.5 million to Moldova, it being included in the list of the first three countries benefiting from assistance from Slovakia.

"We greatly appreciate the cooperation of Moldova with Slovakia and we continue to support the Slovak partners in implementing the reform agenda under the EU-Moldova Association Agreement. We want to promote further an intense political dialogue," said Pavel Filip.  

At the same time, the officials exchanged views on the latest developments in the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict. The head of the Cabinet of Ministers referred to the increasingly frequent organization of military applications involving the Russian armed forces in the Transnistrian region. The Prime Minister called for the support of Slovak side in including the question of the withdrawal of foreign armed forces from the territory of Moldova on the agenda of the UN session.

At his turn, the President of Slovakia expressed his willingness to promote bilateral dialogue with Moldova on all dimensions. Similarly, Andrej Kiska noted that Moldova would continue to receive support from the Slovak authorities for implementation of Moldova's modernization reforms and continuation of the European vector.
