Honorary Consulate of Czech Republic inaugurated in Balti

Chisinau, 13 October /MOLDPRES/- A new round of consultations between the foreign ministries of the Republic of Moldova and the Czech Republic was held on 12 October 2017, in Chişinău. The Moldovan delegation was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Lilian Darii and the Czech delegation by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Jakub Dürr.

According to the MAEIE's public diplomacy, strategic communication and media relations service, the two officials underlined the active bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the Czech Republic, emphasizing the need to maintain this positive trend. Thus, both sides underscored the openness to intensify economic and trade cooperation, and further relations in other sectorial areas. In this context, it was agreed to focus on fostering the upward trend of two-way trade in 2016-2017, underlining the need to maintain this dynamics.

Deputy Minister Darii reiterated the strong determination of the Moldovan Government to implement the reform agenda in accordance with the Association Agreement with the European Union, expressing gratitude to the Czech authorities for the support provided in this regard.

Deputy Minister Jakub Dürr highly appreciated the progress in the development of bilateral relations between the two countries, confirming the readiness of the Czech Government to continue supporting the Republic of Moldova in implementing structural reforms and achieving the objectives pursued in accordance with the European agenda.

With respect to the cooperation between the two countries within the frameworks of international organizations, regional security issues and security challenges in Europe, the sides noted the efficient interaction between the two states within the UN, OSCE, and Council of Europe. Both officials highlighted the positive dynamics in the cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the Visegrád Group.

The talks also included an exchange of views on the challenges and threats to regional security. In this context, Deputy Minister Darii mentioned the efforts of the Moldovan authorities to identify, within the frameworks of the “5+2” negotiation process, a comprehensive and lasting solution to the Transnistrian conflict respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova and offering a special status for Transnistria.

On the same day, the Moldovan and Czech officials participated in the inauguration of the Honorary Consulate of the Czech Republic in Balti.
