Moldovan electoral body registers two participants in referendum due on 24 February 2019

Chisinau, 28 December /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today registered the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) and the Party of Communists (PCRM) as participants in the republican consultative referendum due on 24 February 2019.
PDM was registered with the option “for” and PCRM with the option “against.” Thus, once registered by CEC, these two political formations can start the electoral campaign for the referendum due in next February.
The acts for the registration as participants in the republican consultative referendum can be submitted to CEC till 24 January 2019.
On 24 February 2019, concomitantly with the parliamentary polls, a consultative plebiscite will be held on the cutting of the number of lawmakers from 101 to 61 and MPs’ recalling from office, if they fail to properly fulfill their duties.
Also today, CEC accredited more national and international observers, to monitor the parliamentary elections due on 24 February 2019.
