Thousands of specialists involved in recovering situation following bad weather conditions

Chisinau, 8 Jan. /MOLDPRES/- Over three thousand specialists from the authorities are involved in recovering the situation following the bad weather conditions. According to the information by the Emergency Operations Center, at noon on January 8, 3,032 specialists with 975 technical units are involved in recovering the situation in the country following heavy snow and sleet.

Officers and non-commissioned officers from the subdivisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, employees of the State Road Administration, medical workers, workers of electricity suppliers, etc. are taking measures to return the situation to normal. "At the moment, there is heavy snow all over the country, all the national routes are practicable but they are driving in winter conditions. Cleaning and spreading anti-skid material is carried out on all national, regional and local routes, but more intensively in the northern part of the country. There are no blocked roads at this time", the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) said.

According to the information provided by electricity suppliers, for now, 63 localities remain partially disconnected from electricity. 

Following the bad weather conditions, IGSU employees intervened for towing and unblocking of means of transport on routes in the districts of Ialoveni, Drochia, Hâncești, as well as Chisinau. 

The authorities continue to urge people to take into account the bad weather conditions and avoid travelling. According to the forecasts, on January 8 it will snow heavily (15-20 l/m2), there will be isolated thunderstorms, strong wind of up to 15-20 m/s, average daily air temperature will drop by 10 -15°C, compared to the weather of the last period.
