Moldovan PM meets representatives of local public authorities of Cimislia district

Chisinau, 12 January /MOLDPRES/ - The modernization of the infrastructure, implementation of projects locally and the importance of turning to account of the foreign financial resources available for the region’s development according to the European model have been discussed at a meeting of Prime Minister Dorin Recean with representatives of the local public authorities and the de-concentrated services from the southern Cimislia and Basarabeasca districts, the government’s communication department reported.     

The PM said that, in 2024, the authorities’ efforts would stay focused on Moldova’s European agenda, in the context of the opening of the negotiations on accession to EU. He emphasized the perspective of accessing the funds needed for improving the people’s living standards. Also, the PM urged the local authorities to benefit from the European Village 2 governmental programme; this year, projects on the rehabilitation of the drinking water supply systems will have priority.      

„Solutions to about 80 per cent of the current problems can be found locally, through more responsibility assumed and through the use of instruments necessary for the increase of the revenues. At the same time, you can rely, in continuation, on the government’s assistance, whenever you need. Our problems are common in the entire country and only through cooperation, we will be able to solve them gradually and will manage to edify Europe at home,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.  

The participants in the meeting discussed the RESTART reform of the social assistance system, as well as the national programme on afforestation, launched by President Maia Sandu. At the same time, the local authorities tackled issues on the voluntary amalgamation, national roads’ rehabilitation, lack of urban plans and implementation of cross-border projects.
