Customs officers found 16 kilograms of drugs in two postal shipments

Chisinau, 15 Jan. /MOLDPRES/- A quantity of 16 kilograms of pills - precursors for the manufacture of amphetamine were found by the customs officers. The value of the drugs is over 15 million lei (around 750 thousand euros).

According to the Customs Service, the seizure was detected following investigative actions carried out during the documentation of the case registered at Costești customs, where more than 23 kg of pills containing the substance - ephedrine, a precursor used in the manufacture of the drug amphetamine, were found at the beginning of this year.

As the addressee of the postal parcels was a 24-year-old man, a citizen of Ukraine, detained last week. He is currently in pretrial detention.

The pills were collected and sent for expert examination, and investigations into this case continue.
