In his speech, the deputy president of the Moldovan Writers’ Union, Ivan Pilchin, said the National Culture Day was identified with the birthday of the national poet Mihai Eminescu.

On the occasion of the National Culture Day, marked in Moldova today, Culture Minister Sergiu Prodan conveyed a message to all those who are on guard of the culture in the country’s villages and cities, as well as those who promote Moldova’s values abroad. Prodan thanked the culture sector employees for the work, passion and self-denial they proved, often on the brink of sacrifice. The minister thanked also the audience, without whom the artistic act could not take place, urging them to value the culture and the people who create them. ‘’This is asset which we can bear in our thought and soul; it is the wealth which we can convey to the next generations and which nobody can take away from us,’’ the culture minister said.

Also today at the Organ Hall at 19:00, the Mihai Eminescu National Cultural Institute in Chisinau, in cooperation with Romania’s Embassy in Moldova and with the support of the TVR Moldova TV station, organizes a chamber concert with the participation of musicians Andrei Ionita (cello) and Alexandra Tirsu (violin), along with piano player Marcel Lazar.
