Moldovan president handed out annual cultural awards

Chisinau, 16 Jan. /MOLDPRES/- At Culture Awards Gala, President Maia Sandu jointly with Minister of Culture Sergiu Prodan handed out awards to people who achieved outstanding results in their creative fields last year, the presidential press service has reported.

Also yesterday, the head of state signed a decree on honorary titles on several people of culture for outstanding successes in creative activity, high professional mastery and the promotion of the nation's spiritual values.

"Dear people of culture, thank you for your contribution to the development and promotion of national culture. Culture is a unique source of joy, a form of maturity of spirit and celebration of the humanity within us," the president said.

The official noted that in 2023, several initiatives and projects in the cultural field were supported. "The Cultural Voucher program was launched, which offers young people, upon reaching the age of 18, 1000 lei for books, theater tickets, concerts. In the last two years, the Government renovated 28 houses of culture. Cultural events unite us and make us proud of our country and people", Maia Sandu said.
