Moldovan Medical University launches investment project worth 2 million euros

Chisinau, 16 January /MOLDPRES/ - The Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF) from Moldova today launched an investment sub-project, FORCE_Farm modernization and strengthening of the education through research in pharmacy and medicine at Nicolae Testemitanu USMF, worth 2 million euros.

USMF Rector Emil Ceban said that one of the main goals of the University’s development was based on the implementation of the principle, ‘’education through research.’’   

According to the rector, the resources allocated within the project will be used for creating a laboratory of vegetal and pharmaceutical bio-technologies for studies in the field of the fundamental and profile pharmaceutical sciences and of a laboratory of pharmaceutical nano-technologies and design of medicines, which will ensure the approaching through experiment and research of disciplines of pharmaceutical profile, as well as of the clinic files. At the same time, the laboratories of the scientific centre of medicine will be endowed with modern equipment and a research classroom will be created, endowed with specialized educational systems, which will ensure the students’ participation in the process of simulation of experiments and of the stages of medicines’ elaboration.     

„The creation of this infrastructure will contribute to the bio-technological education of students, through the learning of the advanced practical skills in the field of physical and chemical analyses and bio-analysis and to the enforcement of diverse modern ways of researching the features of medicines,’’ Emil Ceban said.    

The state secretary at the Education and Research Ministry, Adriana Cazacu, said that, in the last two years, the government had invested more financial means, by providing grants to universities. ‘’It is important that we create environments for learning compliant with the standards of the world in which we live. We find out that, at the USMF Nicolae Testemitanu, considerable financial sources are invested, the environments of learning are changing, students benefit from modern laboratories endowed with last generation technologies, hostels and sports fields are modernized,’’ Adriana Cazacu said.   

The state secretary at the Health Ministry, Alexandru Gasnas, welcomed the launch of the project, noting that significant investments had been made in the research sector in the last years.

The initiative launched today fits into the second round of the call of sub-projects within the Higher Education in Moldova Project, implemented by the Education and Research Ministry and financed by the World Bank.  

FORCE_Farm is focused on the strengthening of the platform of teaching, research and elaboration of medicines. The sub-project sees the management of the educational process at the Pharmacy Faculty, through the light of the methodology of research of medicines and familiarization of the Medicine Faculty students with this process, in order to integrate the education process at the two faculties.
