Moldovan president congratulated diplomats on professional day

Chisinau, 17 Jan. /MOLDPRES/- On Diplomat's Day, President Maia Sandu came with a message of appreciation, the presidential press service has reported:

"Congratulations to our diplomatic team on Diplomat's Day, which is marked today. The last year brought you several reasons for professional pride: the exemplary organization of the European Political Community summit, the promotion of the country's interests in dozens of capitals and within regional and international organizations, the advancement of the European path", said Maia Sandu.

The head of state noted that through diplomatic efforts, it was possible to establish and deepen partnerships in defense and security, which contributes to the protection of citizens and state. Maia Sandu also pointed out the operation to evacuate Moldovan citizens from the Gaza Strip, the success of which depended on the professionalism and negotiation skills of Moldovan diplomats.

"The decision regarding the opening of accession negotiations to the European Union - the main achievement of Moldovan governance and diplomacy - puts the Republic of Moldova on an irreversible path of change for the better. European integration is no longer just a field of foreign policy, but a national project, all citizens, the whole society participate in its implementation", Maia Sandu said.

The head of state also emphasized that a complex process of adjusting the legislation to European standards is underway, the formation of the team of negotiators with the EU and the continuation of the reforms and the process of European modernization of Moldova.

"Dear diplomats, you have my gratitude for the devotion which you do your duty. The contribution of each of you, from the MAEIE employees to diplomats and employees of Moldovan embassies and consulates around the world is important for the country, for the defense of the interests of our citizens. We continue to rely on the professionalism of the diplomats who will guide the steps we will take until accession. We have a lot of work to do, but I am confident that we can complete this road well", the president said.
