Moldova's European agenda discussed in Brussels

Chisinau, 8 February /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister Cristina Gherasimov, on a working visit to Brussels, has had a string of meetings with European officials. The sides discussed the process of negotiations and the actions due to be undertaken in this context during this year, the government’s communication department reported.   

The deputy PM met Secretary General of the European Commission  Ilze Juhansone, Secretary General of the European Council Therese Blanchet and the director general of the Department for Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the European External Action Service, Michael Siebert.       

Also, Moldova’s European agenda was discussed with the deputy head of the Directorate-General for Justice and Consumers, Irena Moozová, director at the DG NEAR, Adrienn Kiraly, Chief Foreign Policy Advisor to the President of the European Council Simon Mordue and Skander Nasra - a diplomatic advisor of the prime minister of Belgium - the country which holds the rotating presidency of the Council.      

At the same time, Deputy PM Cristina Gherasimov had meetings with the Croatia’s resident representative at EU, member of the team of negotiators on Croatia’s accession, Ambassador Irena Andrassy and the chief negotiator, the state secretary for the EU affairs from North Macedonia, Drita Abdiu-Halili. The sides referred to the ways of cooperation and the importance of taking over good practices for speeding up the process of Moldova’s accession to the European Union.    

The visit by the deputy prime minister ended with a meeting with the members of the Moldova-EU club, made up of active citizens of Moldova who live in Brussels. The discussions were focused on the way they can support the country’s European integration way. ‘’In the fulfillment of our national goal, we rely on the support of all our citizens, either they are at home or in the Diaspora,’’ Cristina Gherasimov said.
