Chisinau, 12 February /MOLDPRES/ - The government of Germany will support the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry (MAIA) in the adjusting of the sectoral policies to the standards and requirements of the accession to the European Union. This is due to a new Moldovan-German project on technical assistance on the Agricultural Policies Dialogue (APD), launched in Chisinau today.

„A new Moldovan-German technical assistance project on the Agricultural Policies Dialogue is carried out in Moldova with the support of Germany’s government. Within the project, a team of international experts will back MAIA, the Agency of Investments and Payments for Agriculture and the National Food Safety Agency (ANSA) in adjusting the administrative policies and systems in agriculture, rural development and food safety to the EU’s requirements. It is about a complex programme, which will include more new actions  and sometimes less traditional actions, in order to boost and optimize the native agro-industrial sector,’’ Deputy  Prime Minister, Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Vladimir Bolea said.

According to the official, the decision-makers will start ‘’just from the head, ’’ with the structure of the competent ministry changed and modernized. ‘’In a short time, a new chart of the ministry will be presented with the help of the German partners, which is a huge help for us, as we need the experience of the best, in order to manage to be at the level of the European standards. We want to meet the criteria of a European ministry, sure and efficient,’’ the deputy PM noted.

„Moldova’s place is in the EU’s great family and Germany will provide every support, so that this happens as soon as possible. Germany and Moldova are connected through different ways in various sectors, including the economic one, as Germany is a reliable partner of Moldova on the way to the European Union,’’ Ambassador of Germany to Moldova Margret Maria Uebber said.

The project’s activities are financed by the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture and it is implemented by the Consortium Berlin Economics and DLG International.

Germany’s overall trade with Moldova in 2022 grew by 5.3 per cent against the year before, according to the Romanian-Germany Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK Romania). Data to this effect was taken over from the German Federal Statistics Bureau, Destatis. According to the quoted source, the volume of commerce between the two states exceeded 871.2 million euros.
