Organization for Entrepreneurship Development allocates 1.32 billion lei for support of companies from Moldova in 2023

Chisinau, 13 February /MOLDPRES/ - The government in 2023 financially backed about 3,000 companies from the sector of small- and medium-sized enterprises and about 3,500 patentees, through the entrepreneurial support programmes managed by the Organization for Entrepreneurship Development (ODA).

In this respect, about 1.32 billion lei (66 million euros) was allocated in grants, financial guarantees, compensation of interests on investment loans, compensation of the expenses of transition to independent activity, subsidies for participation in exhibitions, support infrastructure and compensation of the expenses of the dual education units. This contributed to the attraction of 2.21 billion lei investments in the economy.   

Thus, 596 out of all enterprises backed accessed non-refundable financing worth about 271 million lei in all. These enterprises maintained about 10,000 jobs and created another 2,377 ones.  

Financial guarantees amounting to about 481.6 million lei were provided to 455 businesses. The new guarantees issued facilitated the access of these companies to loans worth 1.13 billion lei and contributed to the attraction of investments in the economy amounting to 1.48 billion lei.  

At the same time, the 373 governmental programme was launched, which in the first six months alone, backed 176 companies to contract cheaper loans, with the overall value of the investment projects being 753 million lei. As a result, 200 new jobs were created at the beneficiary companies and another 283 are to be created in the near future, according to investment projects.   

After the entrance into force of the reform of the patent, ODA received and approved 3,552 applications, with the value of the compensations earmarked being 25.62 million lei. About 95 per cent of the former patentees switched to the independent activity, individual enterprises, as well as limited companies.    

In 2024, new programmes backing the economic empowerment of women and small businesses are to be launched with the support of the government and foreign development partners.
