Chisinau, February 15 /MOLDPRES/- Government's decision to earmark 50 million lei from the Intervention Fund to support farmers who suffered losses following the calamities of the summer of 2023 entered into force upon publication in today's Official Journal. "This means that farmers can submit by March 13 the necessary documents to get financial aid from the state," Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vladimir Bolea said.

To ensure an efficient distribution of aid, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry carried out analyzes and calculations, based on the damage assessment documents provided by the district agricultural directorates. The conclusions of these analyzes indicate that the most affected crop was corn, especially in the districts of the southern half of the country. Thus, the state will allocate over 45 million lei to farmers whose harvest was compromised by 60% or more. It is estimated that around 390 farmers will benefit from this aid.

Also, the storms and hail from July 25-27, 2023 in the north of the Republic of Moldova had a negative impact on the orchards, affecting a significant number of agricultural producers, especially in the Edineț district. To support the recovery of these losses, seven farmers will benefit from financial aid worth over 3.5 million lei.

Submitting applications for aid will take 20 days. "We encourage all affected farmers to prepare the necessary documents and submit their applications. The Agency for Interventions and Payments in Agriculture will provide the necessary assistance and guide farmers in this process", Bolea said.
