Moldovan foreign affairs minister has meetings with more ambassadors accredited in Chisinau

Chisinau, 15 February /MOLDPRES/ - Foreign Affairs Minister Mihai Popsoi this week has had meetings with ambassadors accredited in Chisinau, and namely Bucharest-based Ambassador of Finland to Moldova Leena Liukkonen, Ambassador of the United Kingdom Fern Horine, Ambassador of Austria Stella Avallone, Ambassador of Azerbaijan Ulvi Bakhshaliyev, the Foreign Affairs Ministry’s (MAE) press service has reported.     

The dialogue with the ambassador of Finland was focused on Moldova’s progress made in the process of accession to the European Union, the regional security and the recent developments in the domestic policy. The sides expressed the firm commitment to continue the political dialogue, strengthen the commercial and cooperation relations in such sectors ad cyber and energy security.    

At the meeting with the ambassador of the UK, Minister Mihai Popsoi appreciated the United Kingdom’s firm commitment to back Moldova in the context of the multiple challenges faced by the country. The discussions regarded the important support provided by the UK in priority fields, as well as both countries’ interest in turning to good account such formats as the Political and Strategic Dialogue and the consolidation of the bilateral legal framework.   

During the meeting with the ambassador of Austria, the Moldovan diplomacy head appreciated the dynamic of the bilateral political dialogue between Moldova and Austria. The sides highlighted the good cooperation of the two countries within the international and regional organizations, noting the importance of turning to account the cooperation within the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR), as Austria holds the rotating presidency of this organization. Minister Popsoi expressed appreciation for the assistance provided to Moldova in diverse sectors (environment, energy, social services, education, etc.)    

Also, Mihai Popsoi received Ambassador of Azerbaijan Ulvi Bakhshaliyev at the MAE’s headquarters.  

The Moldovan diplomacy head wished success to the Azeri ambassador, who has recently started exercising his mandate in Moldova. The interlocutors exchanged opinions on the present stage of the Moldovan-Azeri relations, emphasizing the active and solid character of the bilateral dialogue, including at the high level. The officials confirmed willingness for the continuous consolidation and diversification of the cooperation between the two countries in the fields of mutual interest.
