Deputy Prime Minister had meetings with counterparts of Lithuania, Austria, Latvia, Sweden in Munich

Chisinau, February 17 /MOLDPRES/- On the second day of the Munich Security Conference, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mihai Popșoi had meetings with his counterparts from Lithuania, Austria, Latvia and Sweden, the MAE press service has reported.

During the meeting with Lithuanian counterpart Gabrielius Landsbergis, the officials addressed intensification of bilateral relations, as well as cooperation within the Three Seas Initiative. Moldova has recently joined the regional platform as an associated country.

"We talked about the European integration process of our country, as well as the progress of the reforms. Gabrielius Landsbergis assured us that he will continue to support our country in the transformation process and getting closer to the European Union", said Mihai Popșoi.

Popșoi discussed the Moldovan-Austrian collaboration with Federal Minister for European and International Affairs of Austria Alexander Schallenberg.

"We agreed to turn to good account the cooperation within the EU Strategy for the Danube Region. In this regard, my counterpart invited me to participate in the next strategy meeting. I thanked the minister for the assistance provided by Austria to our country over the years," he said.

With Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia Krišjānis Kariņš, Popșoi discussed the opportunity to organize the meeting of the Moldovan-Latvian Intergovernmental Commission for economic, industrial and technical-scientific cooperation, as well as a business forum. 

With Swedish Minister Tobias Billström, Mihai Popșoi exchanged views on the steps we are taking to increase the resilience of state institutions in combating external interference and hybrid attacks.

"I thanked him for the development assistance offered to the Republic of Moldova aimed at the benefit of the citizens", Popșoi said.
