Chisinau, 20 February /MOLDPRES/ - The Prosecutor’s Office for Combating the Organized Crime and Special Causes (PCCOCS) has sent to court the file of a former head of the Railway of Moldova state enterprise (CFM), ‘’who would have fraudulently hired locomotives from the left bank of Dniester, causing damages of over 5,000,000 lei.’’
According to PCCOCS, the former CFM head „concluded, out of the plan on procurements, an additional agreement, on the purpose of organizing the carriage of goods on the segment Chisinau-Calarasi-Etulia, based on a contract on lease of locomotives from a company from the Transnistrian region.’’ Therefore, the price of the contract was increased. ‘’At the same time, the agreement included a new type of locomotive which was not provided for in the basic contract. As a result, the actions of the former director prompted the increase in the payments for the concerned services borne by CFM, amounting to over 5,000,000 lei,’’ PCCOCS said.
Thus, PCCOCS prosecutors accused the former chief of the offence of abuse of power and the Railway of Moldova enterprise formulated a civil lawsuit in court for the recovery of the financial damage.
The Chisinau Court is to consider the cause under the Criminal Code, which stipulates as punishment a fine worth up to 57,500 lei or imprisonment of up to three years, in both cases with the deprivation of the right to hold certain offices for a period from two to five years.
