Chisinau, 27 February /MOLDPRES/ - An exhibition titled, Листівки з України” (Post Cards from Ukraine) was inaugurated at the National History Museum of Moldova on 26 February. The event was organized by the Progressive community, public association, in cooperation with the host institution and with the support of the National Library of Moldova (BNRM), dedicated to the commemoration of two years since the unleashing of Russia’s aggressive war against the sovereign state, Ukraine.

Attending the event, Culture Minister Sergiu Prodan said that the exhibition Post Cards from Ukraine, was a good occasion to speak about Ukraine and to reaffirm our commitment to be with the neighbour country – as its freedom means the freedom of Moldova as well. ‘’Therefore, we stay in solidarity with Ukraine and we do our utmost to near the day when we will speak about peace and edification, not about destruction,’’ the official stressed.

According to the deputy director of the museum, Livia Ermurachi, the exhibition comprises 22 drawing boards – post cards; each of the post cards tells the story of an architecture monument placed in various regions of Ukraine, as it looked before its destruction and after it. The works are part of the international exhibition, Symbol of Ukraine’s Victory – a project which documents and presents the destructions triggered by the attacks with missiles and the bombardments against the Ukrainian cultural heritage. Since the beginning of Russia’s invasion in Ukraine, many historical, architecture and archaeological monuments of Ukraine have been attacked and destroyed. The Russian military troops cynically and relentlessly target museums, monuments, universities, movies theatres, throw missiles to churches, cathedrals, TV towers and other buildings. The Russian army not only devastates the Ukrainian cities and villages, but also systematically destroys the Ukrainian cultural heritage too.

For her part, an activist from Ukraine, the event’s moderator Irina Gandibula said that only together we can become stronger and can support Ukraine in its fight for peace and conservation of the cultural heritage.

„We mention that we cooperate with the voluntary organization OC FC „Vilni Kryla, which provides humanitarian assistance to the hot areas. Along with Vilni Kryla, a fund-raising campaign was organized, meant to support the Ukrainian heroes. In this respect, we call on each of you to join the campaign of collecting funds, by scanning the QR code. Each person’s contribution is quite valuable for those who fight for the defence of Ukraine, for peace and stability,’’ Irina Gandibula said.

The exhibition will be opened till 15 March.
