Moldovan government takes new measures as to fair access to education, ensuring protective school environment for all children

Chisinau, 6 March /MOLDPRES/ - Parents who rule to register their children at another school but the ones with a smaller number of pupils than 50 ones will benefit from tax free allocation. The measure is contained in a draft law on the amendment of the Education Code, approved by the cabinet of ministers today.  

The teachers from the schools with less than 50 pupils will benefit from allocations as well, provided that they go to teach at another institution, nominated by the Education and Research Ministry. The payments are to be provided from the state budget.    

„We believe that this measure will stimulate the parents to take decisions for the benefit of children. This comes along with the investments in infrastructure, which we are to make at those 35 model schools and the purchasing of 70 school buses, which are to ensure the pupils’ carriage. The major goal of the project, Network of Model Schools, which envisages also the providing of these allowances, is to ensure the access to quality education for the pupils from the rural environment,’’ Education and Research Minister Dan Perciun said.      

The participants in the cabinet meeting also approved the establishment of rewards for the people whose work or marks will be appreciated by the school community. At the same time, sanctions will be set for the pupils due to commit infringements in the school environment, including violent deeds.   

Other measures approved regard the giving of right to teachers to benefit from psychological assistance, if they were target of a violence situation as regards the fulfillment of the labour obligations, as well as the giving of right to the people who are not graduates of the pedagogical higher education syllabi to participate in the contest on the holding of these positions and to follow the psycho-pedagogical module during two years after the holding of the teaching office at the most.    

According to the amendments proposed to the Education Code, the schools will be able to provide, against payment, services of nourishment for children. The provisions will enter into force after they are approved by the parliament.
