Moldovan authorities consider implementation of European Village Programme for 2024-2028

Chisinau, 7 March /MOLDPRES/ - The enhancement of citizens’ access to the local technical and municipal infrastructure, improvement of the quality of the local social infrastructure, consolidation of the local public authorities’ capacity in implementing projects, the accessing and attraction of investments are the specific goals of the European Village National Programme for 2024-2028, discussed at the Infrastructure and Regional Development Ministry (MIDR) on 6 March.     

The participants in the meeting, representatives of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Moldova, Embassy of France, Solidarity Fund PL in Moldova, experts of the project, I Get Involved, Phase II, representatives of the Congress of Local Authorities from Moldova (CALM), of the National Office of Regional and Local Development (ONDRL), of the Regional Development Agencies North Centre and South, Autonomous Territorial Unit (UTA) of Gagauzia and Chisinau municipality established that the Programme’s structure should be with emphasis on the analysis of the situation, tendencies of development, the impact expected, the estimated cost of interventions, as well as the ways of monitoring and assessment.        

The state secretary in the regional development sector, Ana Mardare, unveiled the programme’s priorities, stressing the importance of an inter-institutional cooperation. ‘’Our goal is to ensure, by this public policies document, an integrated approach and a much wider vision on the European Village Programme, at the level of strategic framework, and to speed up the process of improvement of the living conditions in the settlements of Moldova.’’ the MIDR official noted.      

The deputy resident representative of UNDP Moldova, Andrea Cuzyova, confirmed the UNDP’s commitment to support Moldova’s national authorities in the finishing, promotion and implementation of the programme, so that it becomes an efficient instrument in the promotion of the development and prosperity for all residents and all communities of the country.   

The draft of the European Village National Programme for 2024-2028 was worked out with the support of UNDP Moldova and the government of France. The fields of intervention comprise the modernization of the centralized water and sewerage supply systems, construction/reconstruction of the public systems of street illumination, elaboration of the town-planning documentation, rehabilitation of public buildings, of sports and recreation buildings, setting of systems of production and supply of energy by use of renewable resources, etc.
