Moldova, USA to strengthen cooperation relations in cyber security

Chisinau, 7 March /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova and the United States will deepen the cooperation in the field of promotion of the information security and cyber defence. Today, Energy Minister Victor Parlicov signed a Memorandum of understanding between the Energy Ministry and the U.S. Civilian Research and Development Foundation (CRDF), represented by CRDF Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia Mykhailo Verych.      

The agreement expresses both states’ commitment for enhancing the general level of the cyber defence, implementation and development of the systems of security of information data and of the systems in which they are processed. Also, under the agreement, the sides will foster the cooperation in the scientific and education fields, will provide mutual exchange of statistic and analytical information, as well as will undertake actions in the field of information security among the residents and civil servants.    

 “This Memorandum marks an important step in the promotion of the cooperation and exchange of experience between Moldova and the United States in the information and cyber security. In the context of the hybrid war which we face, it is necessary to strengthen the capacities of all state’s institutions in the sector of protection of data and prevention of cyber attacks,’’ Minister Victor Parlicov said at the event.    

The United States firmly support the government’s efforts as to the consolidation of the cyber and information security of Moldova. In late last year, experts from the USA organized a workshop, during which civil servants of Moldova were trained concerning the measures of protection of information, counteraction of misinformation and development of public policies in the cyber security field.
