Chisinau, 9 March /MOLDPRES/ - A new project from the western Falesti district provides for the creation of access to drinking water for more than 26,000 citizens, 60 public institutions and 400 economic agents from ten settlements of this area, through the carrying out of the construction and assembly works established in the updated version of the technical project, the North Regional Development Agency (ADR Nord) has reported.

According to the quoted source, the project regards also the regionalization of the water supply public service. ‘’These actions will be preceded by the carrying out of a technical expertise for the present infrastructure and the establishment of the needs for the work of the Prut-Falesti water main,’’ ADR Nord said.

„Taking into account the earlier investments, we are in the process of identifying a viable solution to provide the citizens from the Falesti and Ungheni districts with qualitative drinking water through the rehabilitation and exploitation of the Prut-Falesti water main. At the same time, we are to regionalize the water supply service,’’ the director of ADR Nord, Maria Prisacari, said.

The file of the project titled, Finishing and setting into operation of the Prut-Falesti aqueduct, was submitted to the Contest for the identification, assessment and approval of regional development projects in the field of Water and Sanitation Supply for financing from the National Fund for Regional and Local Development, the November 2023 edition. The project is to be included in the Single Programme Document (2022-2024).

The works of construction and assembly of the old system of supply with water from the Prut river of the settlements from the Falesti district started in 1984. Since then, more investment measures have been carried out in this respect. In 2012, following the assembly of a water treatment station in the Falesti town, the Prut river’s water did not reach the homes of the Falesti residents because of the old Prut-Falesti water main, which yielded. Subsequently, other investments were made to improve the situation.
