09:40 | 11.03.2024 Category: Culture

Chisinau, 11 March /MOLDPRES/ - The closing concert of the 58th edition of the Martisor International Music Festival, held in the Moldovan capital and in the territory on 1-10 March, took place at the Nicolae Sulac National Palace from Chisinau on 10 March.

According to the organizers, over 60 concerts were held within the Festival.  In March, the Martisor Festival has brought and continues to bring valuable artistic bands, singers and actors from Moldova, Romania, Italy, Greece and France on stages from Chisinau, as well as in another 43 settlements from Moldova and other several European cities.

The festival ended with a concert titled, Ballad for violin and orchestra, - a homage paid to the departed artist, Serghei Lunchevici, at his 90th birthday anniversary, who is regarded as a legend of music.

Attending the event, Culture Minister Sergiu Prodan thanked the artists for the last evening concert and the nice homage paid to the great artist, Serghei Lunchevici. ‘’I was deeply excited to see in the beginning of this evening such a big army, so many generations of artists from the orchestra of great Lunchevici and I realized that our generations, to a great extent, come from the films of Emil Loteanu, from the music of Isidor Burdin and from the Orchestra of Serghei Lunchevici. I want to thank the organizers for the wonderful idea to bring this relic to the stage – the violin of Serghei Lunchevici, as this relic, from my point of view, must live in talented hands and not be covered with dust on museum shelves. Therefore, we will consider, at the Culture Ministry, the possibility to create a prize of encouraging for young violin players, who would deserve to handle the violin of Serghei Lunchevici. Today is the tenth day of the Martisor festival, but the festival does not end here – it continues, as the 58th issue has the title, Martisor all over the country. And during March, we will have a lot of concerts of our dear artists in all regions of Moldova, so that this music warms our souls during the entire year. Replicas of this festival will be heard not only in Moldova, but also in Europe. This year, the Mihai Eminescu National Theatre has a tour to ten European capitals,’’ Culture Minister Sergiu Prodan said.

On the same day, the Martisor International Music Festival ended with a recital by soprano Natalia Gavrilan (Moldova-Italy) with the National Chamber Orchestra, conducted Cristian Florea, held at the Chisinau-based Organ Hall.

The first edition of the Martisor International Music Festival took place in 1966 at the Chisinau-based Serghei Lunchevici National Philharmonic, the founder of which was the Philharmonic’s director Alexandru Fedco.
