EcoContact: communities ever more involved in solving environmental problems locally in Moldova

Chisinau, 11 March /MOLDPRES/ - The promotion of the ecological education and the involvement of the community in the consultative/decision-making process as to the environmental problems locally is the goal of the project, Think Globally –Act Locally. The project is implemented by the Iscalenii public association, beneficiary of the Small Grants Programme (PGM), Active citizens for a sound environment and green Justice. The activity is part of the project, A green justice for a protected environment and sustainable communities in Moldova, carried out by the EcoContact public association with the financial support of Sweden.        

The project is implemented in the Falesti district, Catranac village, having as target especially young people and women in the activity of informing the residents about the right to a clean, sound and sustainable environment.

At the same time, 20 young people are trained within the organization of a roundtable titled, I am environment expert; thus, an initiative group of young people was created. Also, to promote the ecological education, the first edition of the informative bulletin was created, out of two ones planned to be carried out within the project.    

Another goal of the project, Think Globally – Act Locally, is to work out a local plan of actions with aspects of environment, public consultation and its approval by the local council.  

The overall value of the budget of the Think Globally – Act Locally project is 100,000 lei (5,000 euros), of which 95,000 lei represents the grant and 5,000 lei – beneficiary’s contribution.
