Moldova to switch to summer time on 31 March

Chisinau, 12 March /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova will switch to the summer time on 31 March, on the last day of this month. Thus, on the night of Saturday, 30 March, to Sunday, the clocks will set forward by one hour and 03:00 will become 04:00.    

The switch to the summer time takes place inclusively for reason that Moldova’s economy is connected to the elements of the Single European Market through the Moldova-European Union Association Agreement.

The switch to the summer time has the goal to maximally use the sun light on the time interval April-October. At the same time, more specialists in medicine and psychology say that the switch to the summer time can influence the health condition and the state of spirit of more people, especially of those who suffer from chronic diseases. According to them, on those several days due to determine the transition from the winter to the summer time, more rest and proper nourishment are recommended. The people with chronic diseases should as attentive as possible with the permanent treatments they undergo and to endeavor not to make interruptions.    

The switch to the summer time is made in accordance with the proposal by United Nations Economic Commission for Europe and concomitantly with the European Union member states.  

In March 2019, the European MPs voted for the giving up of the changing the time in the European Union starting from 2021. Thus, each EU member state will be able to choose whether to remain at the permanent ‘’summer’’ time or at the ‘’winter’’ (standard) one.
