Moldovan PM participates in event on launch of MIA instant payments system

Chisinau, 12 March /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Dorin Recean has participated in the event on the launch of the MIA instant payments system, organized by the National Bank of Moldova (BNM). The PM said that this event marked an important moment in the modernization of the native payments system. He stressed that, in this way, the financial transactions would be sped up, simplified and their costs would be cut, which will contribute to the economic security and efficiency, the government’s communication department reported.  

„Through launching MIA, we make sure that we remain on the way of innovation, facilitate the equal access to the payment services and support the sustainable economic growth. This is a concrete step towards the backing of our citizens and Moldova’s aligning with the European digital economy,’’ Dorin Recean also said.  

The MIA instant payment system, developed by BNM, was launched at an event organized in partnership with the Institutional and Structural Reforms Activity Programme of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).     

The system is available in financial institutions of Moldova and allows consumers and companies transferring money in less than 15 seconds, without the payment of commissions and no matter the bank, only based on the phone number, by giving the citizens and companies a quick, safe and efficient way of carrying out transactions.
