Chisinau, 13 March /MOLDPRES/ - The government constructs roads, water and sewerage, public illumination networks, schools and hospitals, bridges, parks and stadiums and this process will continue, in order to develop the settlements and ensure European living standards in Moldova. Prime Minister Dorin Recean at a news conference referred to the projects carried out and the ones which are to be implemented on the next period.

The projects can be accessed on the government’s page, at the division,  Government Edifies.

„We are in an ample process of the country’s edification. I mean the large number of infrastructure projects which changes Moldova’s look. More of these projects have been blocked for years or even tens of years in a row. The impact of each action of construction means the improvement of the living standards, jobs, economic development for tens and hundreds of thousands of Moldova’s citizens and many of these projects have been expected by residents for tens of years,’’ PM Dorin Recean said.

The prime minister touched upon those 850 projects finished in the last two years, with the support of foreign partners and European financings, noting that another 500 projects were to be implemented this year. According to the PM, about 530 km of national roads, 57 bridges, over 478 km of water and sewerage and about 300 km of street illumination network were constructed and rehabilitated. Also, about 200 schools and kindergartens and 28 community centres were renovated and more than two billion lei was invested in hospitals’ modernization, which allowed endowing all district hospitals from Moldova.

„These figures mean tens of thousands and hundreds of thousands of concrete people, families, pupils who presently have better living conditions: 120,000 people with access to drinking water and sewerage, about 75,000 children who go to renovated schools and kindergartens, 1,200 artistic bands which can promote our traditions and almost 200,000 people who move on illuminated streets,’’ the prime minister said.

In the next years, the construction of new roads connecting Moldova with the European Union, of road bridges and the rehabilitation of the railway will be finished. At the same time, new energy efficiency projects will be implemented, investments will continue in the production of the green energy, in education and medicine.

„The European Union repeatedly proves, inclusively through the huge funds with which it back us, that it wants us to edify together a European Moldova, with European infrastructure. Moldova’s edification is not a process of one or two days; this process lasts and we need each one. We will manage to edify a Moldova which is to look European from north to south, in the smallest villages and the biggest cities, only if the entire country gives a helping hand,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean added.
