Event on inauguration of Anaesthesis and Intensive Therapy Section, computerized tomograph of CVA primary centre takes place in Soroca city of Moldova

Chisinau, 19 March /MOLDPRES/ - The section of Anaesthesia and Intensive Therapy (ATI) was inaugurated following capital repair and a computerized tomograph from the CVA (cerebrovascular accident) primary centre was put into operation at the Anatolie Prisacari District Hospital from northern Soroca city.    

Attending the event were President Maia Sandu, Health Minister Ala Nemerenco, World Bank’s Country Manager for Moldova Inguna Dobraja, the administration and the staff of the institution.    

The ATI section will work with 12 beds and will provide medical assistance to all patients in critical condition, poly-traumatized patients, with cardiovascular pathologies, such as heart attack or cerebral vascular accident. The Soroca District Hospital is one of the 11 primary CVA centres; the section will take over including patients hit by CVA from the northern Drochia district. At the same time, all  necessary urgent analyses will be carried out at the modernized laboratory 24 hours. 

The capital repair of the ATI section was carried out within the World Bank’s Emergency Response to COVID-19 Project in Moldova. Also, the section was endowed with furniture, highly-advanced and medical equipment, necessary for the providing of medical assistance to patients in serious condition. The sources are both from the state budget and foreign partners’ support. The overall cost of the investments is of about 20 million lei.   

At the same time, the Soroca District Hospital was endowed with computerized tomograph of the last generation, with capacity of 64 slices, which will help physicians quickly and accurately establish the diagnose, in the case of the patients with cerebral vascular accident. Also, the apparatus will be used also for other medical emergencies, such as: injuries, internal bleedings, cardiovascular,  oncological, respiratory diseases, considerably shortening the waiting queues for such investigations, providing patients in critical condition with access to advanced ways of diagnosing nearby their place of residence.     

The computerized tomograph was purchased with financial means envisaged for the implementation of the Health Component of the Project, Emergency Response to COVID-19 and support for micro-, small and medium-sized enterprises, under the framework Agreement on loan between Moldova and the Council of Europe Development Bank, worth about 8.2 million lei.          

To modernize the infrastructure of the Soroca District Hospital and endow it with highly advanced medical devices, the Health Ministry in 2023 invested about 40 million lei, both from its own sources and with the partners’ support.
