Moldova, U.S. North Carolina State sign Memorandum of Cooperation

Chisinau, 19 November /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova and the North Carolina State (USA) have concluded a Memorandum of principles and procedures on the intention to consolidate the good relations. Prime Minister Dorin Recean and North Carolina Secretary of State Elaine F. Marshall, on a working visit to Moldova, signed the document in Chisinau today.  

„This year, we mark the 25th anniversary of the foundation of the partnership on cooperation with the North Carolina American state. I start by thanking North Carolina Secretary of State Elaine F. Marshall. Thank you for the personal dedication, for the soul put in this cooperation between Moldova and North Carolina. You are a faithful friend of our country and you have always been a firm supporter of Moldova. At present, Moldova, just as Ukraine, needs the real, as well as the political support, so that we develop resilient societies and capacities to develop the country. During 25 years of partnership with North Carolina, we have carried out and continue to carry out multiple projects in the education sector, academic and university exchanges, pharmaceutics, stomatology, first medical assistance. Today, we signed a revised and completed version of the Memorandum of Cooperation for the next five years and which will allow us, in continuation, to the develop the cooperation between the two partners,’’ Dorin Recean said.         

North Carolina Secretary of State Elaine F. Marshall said the partnership between North Carolina and Moldova had never been more important than now, when Moldova was facing multiple crises. ‘’Now, more than ever, we know that any exchange or humanitarian assistance which is facilitated by this partnership has an impact on the results and on this country. This partnership has an impact also on Moldova’s goal of accession to EU by 2030. And we will do our utmost to make sure that you will succeed as regards the creation of a more prosperous, safer and more developed country,’’ the official said.        

Elaine F. Marshall pays a visit to Chisinau, in the context of the marking of the 25th anniversary of the bilateral cooperation partnership between Moldova and the U.S. North Carolina state.
