Chisinau, 19 March /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu has participated in an event on the inauguration of the section of anaesthesia and intensive therapy (ATI) of the Anatolie Prisacari Soroca District Hospital, from which the residents of the Soroca and Drochia districts will benefit.

„In less than one year since the Soroca hospital has switched to the subordination of the Health Ministry, it benefited from investments worth about 40 million lei. This is an unprecedented investment, taking into account that, during 15 years, the hospital received only 17 million lei from the district council,’’ President Maia Sandu said.

The head of state noted that about 20 million lei had been allocated for the modernization and endowment of the intensive therapy section with highly advanced medical equipment and another 10 intensive therapy sections from more hospitals were repaired, endowed and are to be opened soon.

„Also today, we saw also the computerized tomograph of the last generation, recently set, which cost 8 million lei. In the last two years, the Soroca district hospital was also endowed with an electric generator, a station for producing oxygen, a modern ultrasound apparatus, an ambulance and other equipment necessary for providing quality medical services,’’ the president also noted.

At the same time, the head of state stressed that, in the last two years alone, the government had earmarked, from its own resources and with the support of foreign partners, about 2.4 billion lei in the reconstruction and modernization of the medical institutions.

„We invest in the health sector, as each life matters and each citizen has right to qualitative medical services,’’ Maia Sandu added.
