Decision by Moldova's Council for promotion of investment projects of national importance

Chisinau, 22 March /MOLDPRES/ - The Council for the promotion of investment projects of national importance has ruled to temporarily cease the validity of the permissive acts, as preventive measure, of the Media Content Distribution Ltd Company (CANAL 5, MAESTRO FM). The decision was taken at a meeting held on 20 March, following the ascertaining of a reasonable suspicion as to the involvement of the effective beneficiaries of the company in activities which hit the state’s security, the government’s communication department has reported.   

At the same time, decision-makers have not identified limitings or risks, in order to provide the preceding approval of the investments of importance for the state’s security for the following companies from the audiovisual sector: „Bright Communications” Ltd (R LIVE TV), „Radio Plai” Ltd, „PRO-MINGIR” Public Association (RADIO PRO-MINGIR), „REFORMA ART” Ltd (JURNAL TV), the Centre for promotion of health and education for health public association „SĂNĂTATEA” (HEALTH) (JURNAL FM), „VOCEA MEDIA” Ltd (VOCEA BASARABIEI TV, VOCEA BASARABIEI FM) and „NOROC MEDIA” Ltd (NOROC TV, RADIO NOROC).  

It is worth mentioning that, on 12 March, the Investments Agency received 40 files for providing the preceding approval of investments of importance for the state’s security and which were put at the disposal of the Council’s members for analysis and exposition. The withdrawal of the broadcasting licence based on application was ascertained for another four companies.    

Taking into consideration the volume of files for analysis, their complexity and the legal term of response of the Council, the members of the Council gave their opinion on 8 files and the rest are to be considered at the next meetings of the Council.
