Moldovan deputy PM says European Council appreciates Moldova's progress in carrying out of reforms needed for accession to EU

Chisinau, 22 March /MOLDPRES/ - The European Council appreciates the progress made by Ukraine and Moldova in the carrying out of the reforms needed on the way of accession to the European Union. Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov made statements to this effect at a news conference today.     

The official unveiled the results of her working visits to Brussels and Berlin, as well as the latest developments on the way of accession to the European Union.  

„The member states invite the Council to quickly adopt the framework of negotiation and to undertake the next steps without delay. We welcome the decision and we want an as quick as possible adoption, as well as the organization, in the nearest time, of the first intergovernmental conference, which is to mark the official launch of the negotiations on accession,’’ the official said.   

The deputy PM for European integration noted that the first intergovernmental conference was supposed to take place in the next months. ‘’This represents a key moment, as it will give us the framework without which we will not be able to start the negotiations per chapter. Till then, we are to continue with the stage of assessment of the national legislation in relation with the EU’s normative framework,’’ Cristina Gherasimov said.  

On 11-14 March this year, Deputy PM for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov paid a working visit to Brussels and on 15 March – to Berlin. During these days, the Moldovan delegation participated in more explanatory sessions on the EU legislation.
