Chisinau, 22 March /MOLDPRES/ - The North Regional Development Agency (ADR Nord) continues to develop the full demand of financing for the implementation of a project on the extension of the Soroca-Balti-Sangerei aqueduct, with financing from the National Fund for Regional and Local Development (FNDRL).

This week, ADR Nord specialists paid working visits to eight settlements of the Sangerei district ‘’Along with representatives of local public authorities of the first and second levels and the representatives of the designing company, the ADR Nord specialists made trips to the project’s beneficiary settlements. The participants in the fact-collection visit assessed the state of the internal water supply networks and discussed the technical solutions to the development of the water supply systems,’’ ADR Nord said.

According to the quoted source, the implementation of the new project will create the conditions needed for the earlier constructed water main, with a length of 32.79 km, to be put into operation in ten settlements of the Sangerei district and the extension of the aqueduct on a distance of 42.34 km will allow ensuring the access to drinking water from the Dniester river for the Sangerei town and another seven settlements from this district.

On the post-implementation period, this project can be extended to a larger geographic area, including new beneficiary settlements from the Sangerei district and ensuring the access to drinking water for a larger number of citizens. Also, the aqueduct’s extension creates opportunities of connection to the same sources of drinking water of the residents from the Telenesti district (Centru Regional Development region), where the water supply situation is more serious than in the Sangerei district.

The file of the project, Extension of the water main for eight communes, Sangerei district, from the Soroca-Balti-Sangerei aqueduct was submitted to the contest for the identification, evaluation and approval of the regional development projects in the field of supply with water and sanitation, with financing from FNDRL, the November 2023 edition.
