Moldovan foreign affairs minister has meeting with Hungarian counterpart in Budapest

Chisinau, 22 March /MOLDPRES/ - Foreign Affairs Minister Mihai Popsoi, along with his Hungarian counterpart Péter Szijjártó in Budapest have signed the Action Plan between Moldova’s Foreign Affairs Ministry and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary for the exchange of knowledge in the process of accession to the European Union, the Foreign Affairs Ministry’s (MAE) press service has reported.      

This marks the common commitment of Moldova and Hungary to boost the bilateral cooperation, focusing on the support of Moldova’s integration into the  European Union and on the exchange of good practices.

The document sees more benefits for Moldova’s citizens:

·        The civil servants from Moldova will benefit from expertise of the Hungarian Diplomatic Academy in terms of integration into EU, through seminars and trainings organized both in Chisinau and in Budapest;  

·        Exchanges of diplomats, university staff, experts and researchers will take place, in order to back the process of Moldova’s integration into EU;

·        Providing of a share from the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarships, envisaged for Moldovan students in the field of EU studies for degree, post-graduate and doctoral programmes in Hungarian universities;    

·        The partnership will facilitate the joint studies of research and exchange of knowledge in fields of mutual interest.   

„At the meeting, I thanked my counterpart for the support provided by Hungary for Moldova’s European integration way and stressed the wish to foster the dialogue to this end, including during the Hungarian Presidency at the European Council, held in the second half of the 2024 year. Péter Szijjártó said that Hungary would support the European integration way of Moldova.

We also discussed ways of boosting the Moldovan-Hungarian Strategic Partnership, with emphasis on cooperation on the European integration dimension, development of the sectoral cooperation and boosting the commercial exchanges. In this respect, I highlighted the importance of the resumption of the Budapest-Chisinau direct flight by the Wizz Air company starting from 2 April this year,’’ the Moldovan official said.
