Moldovan president attends International Mayors Summit 2024

Chisinau, April 11 /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu participated today in the International Mayors Summit 2024, which brings together several mayors and regional leaders of Moldova, Ukraine and European Union member states, the presidential press service has reported.

The event, launched in 2016 in Ukraine, is hosted by Moldova due to the war unleashed by the Russian Federation in the neighboring country.

In her speech, the head of state stressed that over the past two years, Ukrainian city administrations, in addition to trying to protect their communities from military aggression, have had to rebuild the civilian infrastructure in their localities after the relentless rocket attacks.

The President also said that the International Mayors Summit was an excellent opportunity to talk about the strength of the partnerships already existing between cities in the European Union and those in Ukraine or in our country.
