Attention carriers: Bulgaria temporarily suspends traffic on Giurgiu–Ruse Friendship Bridge
The Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Albania informs Moldovan citizens of the temporary suspension of road traffic on Giurgiu–Ruse Friendship Bridge on 4-5 November, according to the decision by Bulgarian authorities.
Therefore, road traffic will be restricted for all vehicle categories on 4 November between 09:00 and 21:00. Subsequently, from 4 November, 21:00 to 5 November, 09:00, crossing the bridge will be prohibited for freight vehicles, regardless of tonnage. Cars, minibuses, and buses will continue to be allowed to move.
To avoid blockages, authorities recommend traffic participants use alternative routes and border crossings between Romania and Bulgaria, such as Vidin–Calafat, Kardam–Negru Vodă, Silistra–Ostrov Călărași, Dobromir–Krushari, Kainardzha–Lipnița, Nikopol–Turnu Măgurele, Svishtov–Zimnicea, Oryahovo–Bechet and Aydemir (Silistra)–Chiciu (Călărași).
Road Infrastructure Agency of Bulgaria has published maps of alternative routes and available parking on the official website http://www.api.bg. Updated road condition information can also be consulted via the free LIMA application or by calling +359 70013020.
For consular assistance, citizens of the Republic of Moldova can contact the Embassy in Sofia at the emergency number +359 877 819 314 or by email at sofia@mfa.gov.md
