VIDEO // Moldovan entrepreneurs make investments worth over 19 billion lei through ODA programmes in recent years
Entrepreneurs of Moldova, in the last four years, have made investments of over 19 billion lei in developing, modernizing and expanding their businesses through programmes managed by the Organization for Entrepreneurship Development (ODA), in collaboration with the Economic Development and Digitization Ministry (MDED). The results were presented at the 3rd edition of Entrepreneur’s Day, an event held today in Chisinau, dedicated to business people who contribute to the economic development of Moldova.
According to ODA’s data, on the same period, more than 7,200 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) of Moldova have modernized, expanded or developed their activity thanks to grants, access to finance and financial guarantees offered through programmes managed by ODA.
Thus, 2,606 enterprises received grants totaling 1.1 billion lei for business development and modernization. Another 1,969 companies accessed investment loans through the Governmental Programme 373, FACEM Investiții BGK, and FACEM Impact, amounting to 5.72 billion lei, while 2,647 businesses benefited from individual and portfolio financial guarantees, which facilitated access to financing worth 2.71 billion lei.
In total, through these instruments, entrepreneurs had access to almost 10 billion lei, resources that were transformed into investments, more competitive businesses, and development opportunities for Moldova’s economy. The financial support was provided from the funds of the Moldovan government and development partners.
Also, thanks to the financial and entrepreneurial support provided through programmes managed by ODA, in the last four years 57,397 jobs have been supported and created across the country.
In addition to presenting the results achieved in recent years, the third edition of Entrepreneur’s Day gave the opportunity to launch new financing, guarantee and digitalization instruments for SMEs and included the award ceremony for more than 130 companies benefiting from grants provided through programmes managed by ODA.
Present at the event, Deputy Prime Minister, Economic Development and Digitization Minister Eugen Osmochescu thanked all entrepreneurs of Moldova for the courage, resilience and determination they prove every day. The official emphasized that, thanks to entrepreneurs, the country’s economy continues to grow, jobs are being created and communities are developing.
“Today, we are here to celebrate entrepreneurs, who represent the driving force of the economy of Moldova. The private sector of Moldova has demonstrated agility and resilience. If we are not agile, we are fragile. We, as a country, the private sector in particular, our citizens, have proved agility, not fragility. If we had remained fragile, I don’t know where we would have ended up on this June day of 2026, but here we are, right in front of the open door to European Union accession. And we are no longer talking about integration, we are talking about accession to the European Union. Accession to the European Union means, in fact, resilience and economic convergence,” said Deputy Prime Minister Eugeniu Osmochescu.
The official added that Moldovan entrepreneurs had shown that they were innovative and capable of turning challenges into opportunities. According to him, the results achieved through investments, business development and the use of state support programmes confirm that there is a shared vision for a more competitive and more prosperous Moldova.
“This day has a special significance, as it coincides with an important moment for the European future of Moldova, namely the opening of the first negotiation cluster with the European Union. It is an achievement that gives us even more confidence that our country is moving in the right direction. Congratulations to all entrepreneurs! Together, we are building a stronger economy and a European future for Moldova,” concluded Eugeniu Osmochescu.
ODA Director Vadim Codreanu thanked entrepreneurs for their daily efforts and congratulated them on their achievements. At the same time, the official assured that ODA would continue to strive to provide Moldovan entrepreneurs with every support they need.
The professional holiday, Entrepreneur’s Day, was established by Government Decision on May 29, 2024, and is celebrated every year on June 27.
