Minister of Finance in talks with World Bank Regional Director for Eastern Europe: Macroeconomic outlook and reform priorities on agenda
The macroeconomic outlook, next year’s fiscal policy, adjustments to the public sector wage system, as well as reform priorities in the context of the European integration process were among the main topics discussed by Minister of Finance Andrian Gavriliță with World Bank Regional Country Director for Eastern Europe Robert Saum.
The officials also discussed the status of implementation of World Bank–supported programs and opportunities to expand cooperation in order to support the Ministry of Finance’s reform agenda.
According to the Ministry of Finance, during the discussions Andrian Gavriliță emphasized the importance of measures that complement fiscal policy, with the objective of ensuring that real incomes for the majority of the population are on an upward trend.
The Minister also noted that the partnership with the World Bank is a strategic one, and that the expertise and support provided contribute to strengthening public finances and implementing the reforms needed to bring the Republic of Moldova closer to European Union standards.
The officials reaffirmed their joint commitment to continue cooperation in order to implement reforms and harness the opportunities offered by the Republic of Moldova’s European path.
