Baltic States’ speakers discussed European integration with mayors and entrepreneurs in Călărași
Speaker Igor Grosu, together with speakers of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania paid a visit to Călărași district. The officials met with mayors, business representatives and community members to discuss the European integration path and the reforms that have contributed to the development of the Baltic States.
During the discussions, Igor Grosu emphasized the importance of exchanging experience with states that have already gone through the process of European integration, noting that Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are relevant examples of bold reforms, strong communities, and a better life for citizens. The talks also focused on the reform of local public authorities and on how its implementation has contributed to improving public services and developing communities in the three countries.
The speakers of the parliaments of the Baltic States shared their experience regarding the European integration process, highlighting that it meant not only achieving a political goal, but also investments in infrastructure, an increased standard of living, and expanded opportunities for citizens, especially for young people.
The officials also visited Călărași Business Incubator, a project supported by the European Union. There, they spoke with resident entrepreneurs about their initiatives, their courage to start businesses at home, and how government programs support the development of local entrepreneurship.
They also met with several young families, some of whom had returned from the diaspora and chose to believe in their future in Moldova and invest in the community by opening painting and math centers for children, and by creating jewelry or clothing for children.
As part of their official visit to our country, the presidents of the parliaments of the Baltic States also met with representatives of all parliamentary factions and discussed efforts to strengthen parliamentary dialogue between the Republic of Moldova and the Baltic States.
