Prime Minister visits Crocmaz: People know that Moldova's future is in great EU family – peace, more development opportunities
Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu began his working visit to Ștefan Vodă district in Crocmaz, a village where, over the past four years, the Government has carried out several infrastructure development projects to improve residents’ living conditions, but which is facing a number of challenges due to its proximity to the war zone.
The Cabinet has invested around seven million lei through the European Village and European Village Express programs, as a result of which a recreational area has been created in the locality, Guguță Kindergarten has been renovated, and the building of Ecaterina Malcoci Gymnasium has been made more energy efficient. At the same time, a 700-meter local road is being modernized, for which 4.2 million lei has been allocated under the Europe is Near program.
Currently, one of the most modern irrigation systems in the country is being built, which will serve over 100 agricultural households from Crocmaz, Tudora, Caplani, with the potential to expand towards Palanca and Olănești. Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu noted that for farmers in the region this means “better planning and more reliable harvest”.
The official also discussed with residents the challenges they are facing because the village of Crocmaz is located on the border with Ukraine, a country where the Russian Federation is waging an inhuman and illegal war. Last week, a drone with explosives was found on the territory of the locality and was defused by sappers from the Ministry of Defense.
Munteanu welcomed the initiative of the local authorities from Crocmaz, Tudora, Caplani and Olănești to start the process of voluntary amalgamation, which will allow them to absorb more national and European projects during the pre-accession period.
“The courage of people to move forward is to be appreciated. They know that the future of the Republic of Moldova is in the great EU family – in peace and with more development opportunities,” he stressed.
